Born in Chicago to Ukrainian immigrants Vasyl and Anna Babchuk, William grew up embracing the challenges of a new homeland. His family's journey from post-WWII displacement to establishing a thriving poultry farm in Monterey, Indiana, instilled in him a profound sense of determination, ingenuity, and tireless effort. These early lessons shaped a man who approached every endeavor with optimism and creativity, turning obstacles into opportunities while fostering deep connections wherever life took him.
William's professional path in medicine was distinguished by excellence and mentorship. After earning his undergraduate degree from Indiana University in 1975 and his M.D. from Universidad del Noreste in 1983, he honed his skills through residency in radiology at Mount Carmel Mercy Hospital—where he excelled as Chief Resident—and a fellowship in nuclear medicine at William Beaumont Hospital. Board-certified in diagnostic radiology by 1989, he dedicated decades to hospitals in Kokomo and Tipton, Indiana, including roles as Director of the radiology technologist program. Renowned for his approachable demeanor and empathy, he earned the Friendliest Doctor Award, using his vast knowledge to profoundly uplift countless patients.
