Walter devoted over three decades to Western Electric, contributing his skills across facilities in Indianapolis and Pennsylvania before retiring. His long tenure reflected a reliable work ethic that supported his growing family and exemplified quiet professionalism in manufacturing.

This vibrant circle expanded to encompass 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren, and even a great-great-great-grandchild, alongside sisters Marjorie Wolfe and Theresa Teed, and brother Cort Tomasik. Though he mourned the departures of his parents John Sr. and Alice, brother John Jr., twin sons Timothy and Tommy, and great-granddaughter Kaylee Melvin, Walter's home pulsed with the energy of these relationships, each one fortified by his unwavering support.
