Over almost 40 years at Decatur Central High School, from 1970 to 2007, Ted shaped young minds as a teacher and led cross country and track teams with infectious zeal. His reach grew into the wider Indiana high school sports scene, where he championed athletes with steadfast encouragement, leaving a profound imprint on students and peers alike. Beyond the track, his involvement at High School Road Church of Christ shone through song leadership, weaving music into communal worship.

Following cherished years with his wife Brenda, he discovered renewed companionship over 18 fulfilling years with Mary Anne Greeley, filled with shared escapades and tender affection. His three daughters—Kimberly Letko (with James Letko), Jamison Edwards (with James Kristopher Edwards), and Kathryn Fisher (with William Johnson)—alongside grandchildren Aaron Letko, Winry Johnson, and Desmond Edwards, were blessed by his warm guidance, infectious laughter, and melodic family sing-alongs.
