Born in Battle Creek, Michigan, Scott's family relocated to Indianapolis in 1961, where his prodigious musical talents emerged early. A dedicated pianist and cellist, he excelled as a composer, arranger, and conductor, mastering everything from intricate classical works to jazz and pop. His relentless drive, sharp intellect, and unique artistry crafted a profound musical heritage, while his compassionate nature empowered countless others to realize their potential in music.

  • Scott shared his extraordinary gifts with loved ones, friends, and global audiences. A purpose-driven advocate, he championed the LGBTQ+ community and causes close to his heart. He is survived by brothers Eldon and John McKenzie, niece Megan Hart (Billy), nephews Daniel McKenzie (Bilgi), David McKenzie, and Ian McKenzie, nine great-nieces and nephews, Uncle James Reed (Amma), and numerous first cousins. He was predeceased by parents Eldon and Betty McKenzie, sister Dena Webb (David), grandparents, and 25 aunts and uncles.
