Robert W. 'Bob' Shelton crafted a life of ingenuity, steadfast commitment, and joyful pursuits, leaving an indelible mark through his engineering triumphs, family devotion, and passion for the games and sports he cherished.
Born in St. Louis, Missouri, to Lee and Francis Shelton, Bob pursued a path defined by intellectual curiosity and hands-on achievement. A graduate of Washington University with a degree in chemical engineering, he built a career blending technical expertise with groundbreaking projects. Settling in Indiana after marrying Betty Becklenberg in 1966, he immersed himself in community life, faith, and recreation. An active parishioner at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church in Westfield, Bob also reveled in bridge games, golf rounds at Green Acres Golf Course in Kokomo, and cheering for the St. Louis Cardinals.
Bob's professional journey began at Emerson Electric in St. Louis, where his metallurgical work contributed to the heat shields for the Apollo Missions. He advanced to Union Carbide in Indianapolis within the missiles and space division, then dedicated 30 years at Haynes International in Kokomo as corporate quality manager. Later, he took on the same role at Greenville Metals in Pennsylvania, ensuring excellence in materials and processes across industries.

Their home brimmed with the energy of daughters Trudy A. Himelick (Dean), Katherine M. Ritsmon (John), and Angela L. Pantos (Dan), alongside cherished grandchildren Justin A. Himelick, Christina A. Himelick, Kaia L. Pantos, and Nikolas S. Pantos. Known for his quiet reliability and knack for fostering connection, Bob created spaces where laughter and support flourished among kin.
