Life & Legacy
Robert Gerald Boyer, warmly called Bob, crafted a vibrant life marked by athletic prowess, steadfast labor, and an infectious zest for everyday wonders, leaving an indelible mark on family, friends, and community.
From his early days as a Merchant Marine, Bob discovered a lifelong passion for wrestling that propelled him into the spotlight. Honed through rigorous training in Montreal, he emerged as 'Robert Boyer the Frenchman,' evolving into the iconic Bob Boyer and later Chief Bobby Bold Eagle in Indianapolis during the 1970s. His ring journeys spanned numerous federations across America and internationally, culminating with the WWF, where his signature bow-and-arrow maneuver thrilled crowds. Beyond the mat, Bob nurtured green spaces, whipped up mouthwatering potato pancakes, and delighted in nurturing birds and squirrels. A natural storyteller, he captivated grandchildren with ever-expanding tales while shuttling them about, and he savored sunny days outside or tinkering in his open-door garage, fostering neighborly bonds. His faith anchored him as a devoted member of St. Stephen's Bulgarian Orthodox Church, and he channeled his generosity into volunteering with the American Red Cross Disaster Relief team.
Bob's wrestling odyssey began post-Merchant Marine service, with training in Montreal leading to his debut as 'Robert Boyer the Frenchman.' By the early 1970s in Indianapolis, he embodied Chief Bobby Bold Eagle for the WWA, competing across U.S. promotions and abroad before closing his in-ring chapter with the WWF, famed for the bow-and-arrow hold. He then poured three decades into skilled Boilermaker work at Amtrak's Beech Grove facility, exemplifying reliability until retirement.
