Born to Manford and Wilma Rogers, Dick entered the world on a crisp winter day in 1933, growing up with a spirit of determination that carried him through high school triumphs and beyond. A standout athlete at Monon High School, where he earned basketball letters in 1951, he channeled that discipline into Air Force service before building a foundation for family and career. His path wove together education at Indiana University, professional ascent in finance, and unwavering commitment to civic causes, culminating in a retirement filled with cherished connections.

Dick's professional journey launched at Merchants National Bank, where his sharp acumen propelled him to Vice President and leader of the commercial loan division by 1970. Transitioning in 1972 to Basic American Industries, he masterminded financing for diverse ventures until his 2003 retirement, demonstrating a career defined by strategic insight and reliability. Beyond the boardroom, his passion shone in the Downtown Indianapolis Lions Club, spearheading vision screenings for Indianapolis Public School students, and as a devoted member of Zionsville United Methodist Church.
