Born in Kokomo, Indiana, to Paul and Florence (Milner) Whiteside, Richard built a foundation of discipline and creativity from his early days. A Kokomo High School graduate, he channeled his energy into music as drum major and honed skills that carried him through military service into a fulfilling career and lifelong pursuits. His world revolved around the thrill of drumming, the calm of fishing waters, and the excitement of sports sidelines, all while nurturing deep connections with those closest to him.
Richard dedicated four decades to General Motors/Delphi in Kokomo, rising to tool and die engineer before retirement. His military tenure in the United States Army and Army Reserves included stints with the army band, blending precision engineering with musical talent. Locally, he enriched performances as a member of the Larry Kirkman Orchestra.
