Life & Legacy
Phillip G. Miller Sr., known affectionately as Phil, crafted a life of unwavering family devotion, entrepreneurial grit, and boundless generosity, leaving an indelible mark on his Indianapolis community through decades of service and shared adventures.
Born into a close-knit family as the middle child among five brothers, Phil embraced a path defined by hands-on dedication and heartfelt connections. From his early days, he pursued passions that blended hard work with compassion, nurturing both businesses and living creatures. His world revolved around creating lasting bonds, whether through storytelling rich with historical insights or extending aid to those in need, always prioritizing the joy of togetherness over all else.
Phil immersed himself in the garage door industry starting in 1969, evolving from a dedicated installer to operations leader across two firms. In 1986, he launched Midwest Garage Door Systems, Inc., from his own garage, transforming it into a powerhouse in Central Indiana. Retiring in 2020, he handed the reins to his sons, who carry forward the sturdy groundwork he laid with vision and tenacity.

Family & Loved Ones
Central to Phil's existence were the enduring ties he nurtured with his wife of 56 years, Patricia 'Penne' Miller, and their two sons, Phil Jr. (Lori) and Clint (Sunnie), alongside four cherished grandchildren, two great-granddaughters, and a great-grandson on the way. A pillar among his four surviving brothers—Bob 'Skip' (Mary), Jim, Glenn (Ann), and Dean (Karen)—he preceded his parents and two nephews in passing. Renowned for his selflessness, Phil thrived on family reunions, spontaneous acts of kindness, and escapes with Penne to destinations like Lake Tahoe, Alaska, the Panama Canal, Gatlinburg, and Florida, complemented by their ritual movie outings and his knack for weaving captivating tales from history.
