Born in Indianapolis to Thomas James Aloysius McFeely and Dorothy Marie Wolfe McFeely, Patricia grew up as one of five siblings, forging lifelong bonds with Thomasine (Tiny), Priscilla, Pamela, Dee, and half-brother Thomas. Tiny, the sole surviving sibling, shared a particularly cherished connection with Patricia and her husband John. Embracing her Irish roots, Patricia filled her days with the joys of home-cooked meals, lively family gatherings, and heartfelt storytelling, instilling values of love and strength in everyone around her.

Patricia Anne Rains's legacy lives on through their family and loved ones:
- Patricia first built a family with Richard Allen Pierson Sr. of Greenfield, raising six children: Cindy (Roger) Pendlum, Deborah (Charles) Colip, Richard (Judy) Pierson Jr., Michael (Becky) Pierson, Randall (Toni) Pierson, and James (Joy) Pierson. Following Richard's passing in 1999, she married Ronnie Clayton Rains of New Castle, who remained her steadfast partner until 2024; Ronnie brought four children into the fold: Scott (Maggie) Rains, Jeff (Karen) Rains, Missy (Tom) Jacobs, and Alicia (Nick) DeFrancesco. As a proud grandmother to over seventy grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she reveled in their presence, her home a hub of endless joy and shared memories.
