Life & Legacy

Michael A. Bayman, known affectionately as Mike, crafted a life of unwavering faith, intellectual curiosity, and heartfelt connections that inspired all who crossed his path in Indiana and beyond.

Born in South Bend, Indiana, Mike grew up embracing the values of hard work and family instilled by his parents, John C. Bayman and D'Ann (Swanson) Bayman. A standout at Riley High School, he graduated in 1963 before pursuing higher education at Purdue University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in 1967. He later deepened his expertise with a Master of Business Administration from Ball State University in 1971. Most of his years unfolded across northern and central Indiana, punctuated by a dozen years in South Carolina toward the close of his professional journey. Mike's passions wove through his days: delving into books and Bible studies, cheering on sports teams, savoring exceptional music, and fully engaging in the interests of those he held dear. His radiant smile and buoyant spirit left an indelible mark, rooted in a profound commitment to his beliefs and loved ones.

Mike's professional path blended technical prowess and family tradition. After a decade as an engineer at Westinghouse, he pivoted to the electroplating field, honoring his grandfather's legacy. Rising to managing engineer, he became a respected authority, earning a merit award from his industry association in 2010 and later induction as an honorary lifetime board member.

Family & Loved Ones

Mike's world revolved around the enduring partnership he forged with Judith L. Bayman on June 29, 1968, a union that anchored his every endeavor. He poured his energy into raising daughter Deborah (Gregory) Abbott and son Gregory (Pollyanna) Bayman, delighting in his role as grandfather to Rebecca (and her daughter Shyloh King), David, Isabella, Arianna, Colby, Logan, Jonah, Annabelle, Elijah, and Isaiah. His warmth extended to siblings Tricia Bayman, Jeffrey Bayman, and J. Chris (Wendy) Bayman, as well as sister-in-law Catherine Cockle, alongside a wide circle of cousins, nieces, and nephews—always the steady presence ready to offer guidance or a listening ear.

Remembered by Friends & Family

Echoes from Mike's circle capture a man whose quiet strength and infectious enthusiasm brightened everyday moments, with many noting his knack for blending deep faith with approachable kindness.
