Life & Legacy

Lois Jean Schoop crafted a life rich with family joys, educational passions, and adventures on the golf course and beyond, leaving an indelible mark of warmth and hospitality in northwest Indiana.

Born in Chicago to Clarence and Anita Lindstrom, Lois spent her early years on the South Side before building her future in northwest Indiana. A proud graduate of Hammond High School in 1963, she pursued her calling in education, earning a B.A. in Elementary Education from Indiana University in Bloomington. On June 14, 1969, she wed her high school sweetheart, Mark, embarking on a 56-year journey filled with teaching young minds, raising a family, and savoring life's pleasures—from golf outings at Woodmar Country Club to sunny escapes in Vero Beach, Florida, and gatherings at their Rochester lake house.

Lois dedicated her professional energy to shaping young lives as a first-grade teacher in northwest Indiana. Her commitment to elementary education reflected a profound belief in nurturing curiosity and kindness in children, balancing her classroom role with the demands of family before transitioning to full-time motherhood after welcoming her two children.

Family & Loved Ones

Cherished moments at the lake house and Florida getaways defined Lois's time with loved ones, where her talents as a gracious hostess turned ordinary visits into cherished traditions. She and Mark raised daughter Julie Wemhoff (Charles) and son Adam Schoop, both of Carmel, Indiana, while delighting in their four grandsons—Connor, Carter, Tyler, and Trevor Wemhoff. Bonds extended to brother John Lindstrom (Linda) of Naperville, Illinois; sister Diane Gleason (Jon) of Crown Point, Indiana; brother-in-law David Schoop (Annelie); and sister-in-law Martha Krop, all enriched by her knack for creating inviting spaces brimming with laughter and connection.
