From her high school days at Warren Central in 1962 to earning a bachelor's degree at IUPUI, she embraced education as a foundation for growth. Her world revolved around nurturing her children while supporting the family cabinet business, later venturing into professional roles that showcased her organizational talents. A pillar in her faith community, she enriched Cumberland United Methodist Church through her choir participation and dedicated treasurer service. Diane's spirit shone in her love for travel, piano melodies, garden tending, bike rides, culinary experiments, and above all, quality time with loved ones.

Diane poured her energy into family enterprises during her child-rearing years, then excelled in administrative positions at Community Hospitals and the IU School of Nursing. Her real estate career highlighted her knack for connecting people with opportunities, while her long-term role as treasurer at Cumberland United Methodist Church demonstrated steadfast commitment to her church family's well-being.

She shared her journey with husband Charles Garner, after first being married to Kenneth Garner. Her children, Cynthia Adams (Charles) and Paul Garner (Janice), along with grandchildren Ashley Garcia (Ben), Jacob Garner, Skylee De-Olivera (Bruno), and Mackenzie Heck (Alex), and great-grandchildren Logan, Annabelle, Alex, and Vivian, were the recipients of her boundless affection and thoughtful guidance.
