From her childhood in Elkhart, Indiana, as the daughter of John and Nadine Brown, Judy displayed an early passion for dance, science, and education that propelled her through academic achievements and into a multifaceted life of teaching, entrepreneurship, and civic engagement. After earning degrees from DePauw University and the University of Michigan, she built a marriage with David Olson that spanned over five decades, filled with adventures in travel, family summers at Birch Lake, and a shared retirement haven amid North Carolina's mountains. Judy's path wove together professional pursuits, volunteer efforts, and a profound belief in service, culminating in her later years volunteering at the North Carolina Arboretum and aiding those in need through Haywood Street Congregation.
Judy's professional journey centered on education, where she inspired students at high schools and colleges with her expertise in biology. In the 1980s, she launched J-Tours, curating specialized tours of the Michiana region to support business recruitment. Later, as co-owner of Printer's Press in Mishawaka, she expertly oversaw the company's financial operations, blending her analytical skills with entrepreneurial spirit.

Judy wove her days around the joys of companionship and kinship, cherishing 56 years alongside husband David, whom she met soon after college and married in 1967. Their home buzzed with the energy of sons Jeff (Angela) and Todd (Sharon), plus the delight of grandsons Davis and Russell, all enriched by lakeside summers at Birch Lake and a foundation of exploration and affection. Her brother Brent (Barb) remained a cherished connection, reflecting Judy's knack for fostering enduring ties marked by her thoughtful, inquisitive nature.
