Following his high school graduation in 1962, he enlisted in the US Marine Corps, where he honed his skills as a welder and rose to the rank of Corporal during four years of honorable service. Back in civilian life, John's enthusiasm turned to the outdoors and equestrian world, excelling in coon hunting—earning a Hall of Fame nod for one of his prized dogs—and championing the breeding of Peruvian horses. His innovative drive shone brightest in 1983 when he launched Burgess Mechanical Corp., building it into a thriving enterprise through sheer resolve.
John's professional legacy began in the US Marine Corps, serving four years as a Corporal and welder, embodying discipline and skill. In 1983, he established Burgess Mechanical Corp., steering it to enduring success through his relentless determination and visionary leadership, creating opportunities and stability for his community.
