Life & Legacy
Harriet 'Fran' Rodrigue crafted a life rich with devotion to loved ones, intellectual pursuits, and a sparkling wit that illuminated every room she entered, leaving an indelible mark on her community and family.
Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, Fran graduated from Shortridge High School in 1958 and embraced a world of curiosity and connection. Her days were filled with the joy of reading—racing through eight books in two weeks, marking her pages with a secret dot to track her conquests, all while keeping her librarians in Brownsburg blissfully unaware. Shy at first, she evolved into a loyal companion whose wry humor, arched eyebrow, and knowing glance over her glasses brought endless delight. With her husband Rod, she rebuilt their home north of I-10 in DeLisle, Mississippi, after retiring in 2002, fortifying it against storms both literal and figurative. Fran's fierce protectiveness earned her the title of 'Mama Bear,' and her heart extended warmly to pets like her cherished Papillons, Sugar and Cookie.
Fran poured her organizational talents into roles as an administrative assistant across diverse sectors. She supported the Superintendent H. Dean Evans in the Washington Township school system, assisted the Director of Nursing at Winona Hospital in Indianapolis, and capped her career at Dupont in DeLisle, Mississippi, retiring in 2002 with a record of steadfast service in healthcare and education.
