Born in the vibrant landscapes of Oaxaca, Mexico, Ernesto Avelino Carrasco, Sr. built a remarkable journey marked by intellectual pursuit and steadfast service. Arriving in the United States, he channeled his passion for healing minds into a fulfilling profession, while also serving his adopted country with distinction in the military reserves. A faithful member of Sts. Constantine and Elena Romanian Orthodox Church, he wove spirituality into the fabric of his daily existence, finding strength and community there until his final days.
Ernesto forged a distinguished path in psychiatry, starting at the VA Hospital on Cold Springs Road before advancing to Central State Hospital and other facilities. He culminated his impactful tenure at Picard Mental Health, where his expertise supported countless individuals. Paralleling his medical career, he rose to the rank of Colonel in the Army Reserves, exemplifying leadership and resilience.
