Her path led her to Indianapolis, where she built a fulfilling life marked by professional dedication and active involvement in local institutions. A faithful participant at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, she also championed education through her leadership role.
Ernestine capped her professional journey with retirement from the Indiana State Auditor's Office, after earlier contributing her skills in the cafeteria at Sanders Elementary School. Her commitment extended to family-school partnerships, serving as P.T.A. president at Sanders from 1971 to 1975, where she advocated tirelessly for student and community needs.
