Born in Winsted, Connecticut, to Antoine and Fernande Dupont, Al embraced a childhood enriched by the warmth of his stepmother Therese after his mother's passing. His journey took him from the hallowed halls of Holy Cross College to the prestigious Tufts University School of Dentistry, where he honed skills that would serve him across decades. A man of deep spiritual conviction, Al wove his Catholic faith into every facet of existence, finding joy in strumming his guitar and lifting voices in song alongside loved ones and fellow parishioners at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. Proud of his French-Canadian roots, he delighted in conversing en français at every chance, his radiant smile and gregarious spirit drawing people near and leaving them uplifted.
Al's professional path shone brightly in military and academic arenas. Commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Army Dental Corps, he dedicated 30 years to active duty, retiring as a Colonel and touching countless lives among soldiers and civilians. In his post-military chapter, he enriched dental education as an Endodontics Instructor at IUPUI while maintaining a practice in Westfield, blending expertise with a commitment to mentorship and patient care.
