Life & Legacy
Douglas Lee Etter crafted a vibrant life marked by global adventures, unbridled enthusiasm, and an unwavering commitment to those he held dear, leaving an indelible mark on his Indiana community through his infectious energy and generous spirit.
Born in Lebanon, Indiana, Doug emerged as a spirited soul who blended sharp intellect with playful irreverence. From his roots in a close-knit family, he pursued education at Lebanon High School and Ball State University, forging a path that led him across continents in pursuit of business opportunities. Yet, true contentment found him back home, clad in casual attire, tending vast fields with a mower or combine, and passionately supporting his beloved Indianapolis Colts, Purdue Boilermakers, and Indiana Pacers. Doug embraced existence with bold abandon—serenading friends with booming 80s rock anthems, unleashing wild air guitar solos, and delivering points with his signature, comically mangled English that somehow always landed. Beneath a rugged facade lay a tender heart, exemplified in his final gift of organ donation, extending hope to strangers in need.
Doug's keen business instincts propelled him to international ventures, where his acumen opened doors worldwide. As a dedicated coach, he mentored countless youth in sports, imparting wisdom on collaboration, perseverance, and passion, shaping not just athletes but entire families along the way.

His devoted wife, Tiffany, stood by his side through every escapade, while daughters Samantha and Marissa, along with son Andrew, sparked his greatest pride—he coached their teams with fierce dedication, blending tough love with gentle encouragement. Ramona, his steadfast mother, shared in his joys, as did brother Michael (with Cathy) and sister Debra (with Bill) Bubenzer. Nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws rounded out a tapestry of connections he cherished deeply, even as he mourned the earlier losses of father H. Gene and brother Steven.
