Born in Harlan to Claude and Pearl Givens Evans, Donna grew up rooted in the Appalachian traditions of her hometown. She built a life centered on homemaking, where her skills created warmth and stability for those she loved most. A steadfast member of the Baptist faith, she found solace and purpose in her spiritual beliefs, which guided her through decades of joys and challenges. Even after losing her brother Claude Evans Jr., Donna's resilient spirit shone through in her unwavering commitment to family and faith.
As a dedicated homemaker, Donna poured her energy into crafting a welcoming home environment, managing daily life with care and resourcefulness that supported her family through the years.
Family & Loved Ones
Donna shared 37 fulfilling years with her husband, Ray Young, building a foundation of companionship amid everyday adventures. Her pride extended to son Donnie Shelton and his wife Jackie, stepson Jason Young with Egle, and stepdaughter Amy Young, along with the delight of four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren who brought endless joy. She stayed closely connected to sisters Sherry Ramsey with Chris, Darla Lamb, and Brenda Sturgill, as well as brother Charles Evans and Linda, while a wide circle of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends enriched her world with shared laughter and support.
