Daniel Roy Breeden crafted a life of steadfast dedication, from military service to hands-on entrepreneurship, leaving an indelible mark on his west side Indianapolis community through resilience and unwavering family bonds.
A lifelong resident of Indianapolis's west side, Daniel Roy Breeden embodied the spirit of perseverance and community roots. Born on November 1, 1946, he graduated from Ben Davis High School before enlisting in the Army, serving proudly from 1966 to 1968 with Co. B, 1st Battalion, 37th Armor Division. Returning home, he pursued education at Ivy Tech, building a foundation for a career marked by reliability and hard work. Even in retirement, his drive to stay active led him to launch a licensed and insured lawn mowing business, tending to clients on days between his thrice-weekly dialysis sessions, always prioritizing purpose and outdoor labor.
Daniel's professional journey showcased his commitment to Indianapolis industry and self-reliance. He spent a decade at Peerless Pump, honing skills in a hands-on environment. He then advanced to Allison Transmission, where he thrived for 37 years until retiring in 2016. Undeterred by health challenges, he founded his own lawn care enterprise post-retirement, delivering meticulous service to neighbors and maintaining an active presence in the community.

Daniel poured his energy into nurturing connections that spanned generations, finding joy in the company of his wife Paula McGill Breeden and their blended household. His daughters Michelle Marion, Angela (Curt) Hufford, Shannon (Rick) Shearer, and Dawn (Darren) Haggard, along with stepdaughter Cartala McGill-Stout (Daryl) and stepson Lewis McGill, were central to his world, complemented by 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He embraced cousins, nieces, and nephews with equal affection, creating a tapestry of support despite losses including his parents Ralph and Bernice, brothers Harold and Melvin, first wife Mary Hutchinson Breeden, and son Jason.
