Life & Legacy
Constance May Minnick crafted a vibrant life filled with artistic flair, family joys, and adventures that spanned continents and cherished Indiana landscapes, leaving behind a tapestry of recipes, sketches, and unbreakable bonds.
Born in Indianapolis to Donald Dale Nicely and Alice Bernadine (Atkins) Nicely, Connie spent her early years on the west side of the city, amid neighborhoods like Old Riverside and Cerealine Towne. She navigated childhood through Riverside Elementary School 44 and Arsenal Tech High School, honing talents that would define her path. In 1973, she wed Wendell Minnick in Danville, Indiana, building a shared journey until his passing in 2013. Eight years ago, she settled in Grass Valley, California, with daughter Tamra and son-in-law Kevin Smith, while her final Christmas brought her to Truckee for carols, games, and feasts alongside grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Connie channeled her creative eye into window displays at L. Strauss Department Store in downtown Indianapolis, bringing imaginative scenes to life for shoppers. She handled clerical duties at the City County Building with precision, and found deep fulfillment as a nursing aide at Methodist Hospital, where her compassionate touch supported patients through their needs.

Family & Loved Ones
Connie wove her days around the rhythms of kinship, nurturing ties that stretched from Indiana roots to California's embrace. Her daughters, Tamra 'Tammy' (with Kevin Smith) of Grass Valley and Rhonda Lynn Williams of Indianapolis, along with stepchildren Wendell Minnick Jr. in Taipei, Taiwan, and Tonya Minnick Pierce in Brazil, Indiana, formed the core of her world—bolstered by 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. She outlived sisters Donna Nicely Heiss, Marilyn Nicely Scifres, and Carolyn Nicely Richardson, yet her home buzzed with the energy of holiday feasts and recipe swaps, her legendary chocolate pie a sweet emblem of generosity passed down through generations.
