Life & Legacy

Charles Bill Baxter built a life of steadfast service, athletic prowess, and unwavering family devotion, leaving an indelible mark on his church, community, and loved ones through decades of quiet dedication and joyful pursuits.

Born in the rolling hills of Richlands, Virginia, to William and Allie Puckett Baxter, Bill's early years took a turn when his family relocated to Indiana. There, he thrived in Putnam County schools, culminating in his 1962 graduation from Fillmore High School. A standout athlete, he balanced rigorous sports with early-morning and after-school shifts at a local dairy farm, honing a strong work ethic from a young age. Pursuing further education at business college, Bill launched into a professional journey marked by financial expertise and reliability.

Bill's professional path showcased his talent for oversight and precision. He served as controller at Ball Corp., followed by a stint at Schneider Engineering Co., before capping his career with retirement from Indiana Duplicating Co. Beyond the office, his commitment extended to Fairfax Christian Church, where he managed finances as treasurer for 38 years, held the role of Elder, operated audiovisual systems, and poured endless energy into the food pantry operations.
