Relocating to Fort Wayne, Indiana, she devoted her early years to nurturing her family before embarking on her own educational journey. Earning a college degree from Purdue University in Fort Wayne later in life exemplified her commitment to growth. Her world expanded through card games, philanthropy, and professional endeavors, blending personal joys with contributions to others until her retirement.
Carolyn applied her skills in tax preparation at H&R Block and financial services at Edward Jones, supporting clients with precision and care until stepping away in 2006. Beyond her professional roles, she championed women's education as a dedicated member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, helping many pursue their academic dreams.
Family & Loved Ones
Carolyn poured her energy into creating a vibrant family tapestry, raising four daughters—Lynda (Chris) Settimi, Laura (Dave) Fortin-Boylen, Patricia (Mike) Haugh, and Michelle (Chris) Fortin-Dole—with steadfast love and guidance. Her home echoed with the laughter of eight grandchildren, Alyson, Stephanie, Jennifer, James, Collin, Evan, Ryan, and Catherine, plus great-grandchild Cooper. After 47 fulfilling years alongside her husband James, whom she lost earlier, Carolyn's gentle wisdom and welcoming spirit continued to draw family close, fostering bonds that spanned generations.
