From her early days in the small town of Turner, Indiana, Betty grew up surrounded by the rhythms of rural life, shaped by the values instilled by her parents, Lawrence S. Bell and Rachel Murray Bell. A proud graduate of Staunton High School in 1944, she stepped into adulthood amid the echoes of World War II, carrying forward a spirit of resilience that defined her journey. Over the decades, Betty built a foundation of service and connection, balancing her roles with grace until well into her 98th year.

For nearly three decades, from late 1959 through 1988, Betty devoted herself to patient care at General Wishard Memorial Hospital in Indianapolis. Her steady presence and commitment to healing touched countless lives, embodying the compassion that marked her professional path in healthcare.

Family & Loved Ones

Betty wove her days around the enduring connections that mattered most, nurturing bonds with those who carried her spirit forward. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother Robert Bell, her son Billy Ray Hausman, and niece Mary Bell Knust Wells. Cherished memories endure through her two grandsons, Anthony Hausman and wife Stacy, and Troy Hausman; three step-grandsons, Matthew Strehle, Jonathan Nixon, and David Quick along with their families; three great-grandsons, Brent, Axel, and Trey Hausman; nieces Linda Gee and family, Carol Vance and family, Nancy Schubert and family; and daughter-in-law Sharon Wallace.
