Born in Streator, Illinois, to Clarence and Alberta Simantel, Betty spent her early years in Dwight alongside five siblings: Marilyn, David, Carol, Randy, and Kim. Her path led her to the University of Illinois, where she earned her degree before building a fulfilling career in insurance. In 1984, she united in marriage with Frank Crossland, embracing a shared life rich with family milestones and spiritual growth. Betty's days were defined by her profound Christian faith, which she openly shared, alongside active involvement in local organizations that strengthened her community.
Betty dedicated much of her professional life to the insurance field, applying her University of Illinois education to support clients and colleagues alike. Beyond her career, she extended her influence through dedicated volunteerism, serving as a board member for Prevail Inc., participating in Fisher's Rotary, and contributing to the Mary Wheeler Circle, while nurturing her spiritual commitments at Second Presbyterian Church and Bible Study Fellowship.
