Born in Sullivan, Indiana, to George and Ada Atkinson, Elaine embraced a world of outdoor thrills from her younger days, mastering water skiing and horseback riding while boating across serene lakes. Her spirit of exploration extended to road trips and immersing herself in country music festivals alongside her late husband, Ronald C. Hagan. A devoted supporter of the Indianapolis Colts, she filled her home with the energy of fandom and the companionship of beloved pets—from cherished dogs and a horse in earlier times to her later feline friends, Mable and Patches. Elaine's faith found a home in Lifeway Baptist Church in Ellettsville, where she once actively participated.

Elaine built a diverse professional path, spending years at a commercial printing firm in Indianapolis before owning and operating Kempf Signs in Bloomington. She concluded her working life at Smithville Telephone Company in Spencer, retiring with a record of entrepreneurial grit and reliable service.

Family & Loved Ones

Elaine wove her days around the enduring ties that enriched her world, nurturing bonds with stepdaughters Kelley Cook of Brantley, Alabama, and April Keith of Avon, alongside grandchildren Ashton Thorpe of Luvern, Alabama, Caitlin Dozier of Brantley, Alabama, and Toby Cook of Vista, California. Her joy multiplied with great-grandchildren Peyton, Presley Liam, and Penelope, while her brother Ron Atkinson of Winchester, nieces Cheryl McKissick and Trish Myers of Winchester, nephew Matt Atkinson in Germany, and a host of great-nephews and great-nieces completed her circle of affection. Known for her welcoming spirit, she created spaces where stories flowed freely and support was unwavering.
